Hello! I hope you had a fabulous weekend! We had a very quiet weekend, which was exactly what I needed. We watched several Master Chefs and spent Sunday prepping our dinners for the week. We’ve kind of gotten off track with meal planning, which leaves us scrounging for dinner each night, which means no leftovers, which means packing lunches for three boys is a pain. Much easier when I can just throw leftovers in a thermos. On the menu this week: shrimp and andouille gumbo, Italian wedding soup and beef and bacon chili!
In the design arena, we are finishing up another black and white kitchen – this one is really cool. The owners are younger, and they wanted a Brooklyn kind of vibe. They went with a slightly oversized subway tile with dark grout (fun!). On the sink wall they have these gorgeous slightly rustic floating dark wood shelves. The blue tape is marking where the shelves will go:
We are doing the tile backsplash just up to the top of the top shelf, which will line up exactly with the bottom of the range hood.
The floors are Black Blizzard slate with a darker grout. It is absolutely gorgeous. I can’t wait to see it totally finished. Everything is covered up here so the floors and counters don’t get messed up while the last bits are being done. There are no uppers on this wall. The space between the cabinets is where the range will go.
We should be finishing up this week – so I’ll have some pretty pictures soon!
